Imlie is walking on a secluded road with her broken cycle. Feeling vulnerable, she is being followed by a few goons. Back home, Indira tells Surya that Imlie still loves her first husband. Mahesh chimes in, adding that it’s good Imlie left their house because she never respected Surya and would never accept him.
Surya, however, tries to see things from Imlie’s perspective. He argues that Imlie wouldn’t have forgotten the man who murdered her son. Indira refuses to forgive Imlie, especially for hitting her son brutally. Anjali enters the conversation and assures Surya that he shouldn’t feel guilty as he is not responsible for Agastya’s death.
Hemalatha notices Anjali interfering yet again and questions her involvement in their family matters. Malti jumps in to explain that Anjali feels like she is part of the family and hence is concerned about their issues. Indira fumes, wishing Imlie had some of Anjali’s sensibility. She believes Imlie wouldn’t have left home at night if she was truly sensible.
Despite Indira’s warnings, Surya decides to go out and search for Imlie. Anjali follows him, arguing that Imlie must have overheard their conversation. Surya defends Imlie’s actions, believing she wouldn’t have left without reason. Their argument continues as Anjali insists on accompanying Surya in his search.
Meanwhile, the goons harass Imlie, eve teasing her and attempting to molest her. Imlie fights back, venting her frustration about marrying her husband’s murderer, a truth she only learned today. Startled by her fierceness, the goons flee. Left alone, Imlie crumbles under the weight of her emotions.
Surya and Anjali continue their search. Reaching Tripathi, they learn that he found Imlie’s cycle pedal, indicating she must be nearby. Surya spots the goons who were harassing Imlie earlier. He stops them and demands to know the whereabouts of the girl they were with. The goons, shaken by Imlie’s attack, plead with Surya to let them go and claim she beat them badly.
Unaware that Imlie is hiding behind a cart nearby, Surya and Anjali head in the direction the goons indicated. Indira calls Surya to check if he found Imlie. Surya replies negatively and refuses to return home when instructed by Indira. He sits on a bench, calling out Imlie’s name in hopes that she will hear him. Imlie does hear him, but decides she won’t return with him.
